At Real SFX, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword — it’s built into the way we design, build, and deliver practical special effects for film and TV. As a listed supplier on the BAFTA albert Supplier Directory, we’re proud to be part of the wider push towards greener production practices across the screen industries.
That’s why we were thrilled to take part in two recent events hosted by the Production Guild of Great Britain, both focused on driving sustainability behind the camera:
🎬 Sustainability in Production -Wales, at Great Point Studios
🎬 Sustainability Behind the Lens, at Garden Studios in London
At both events, we hosted our Real SFX and KIT4CREW stand, chatting with producers, crew, studios, and fellow suppliers about how we’re reducing our environmental impact, and helping others do the same.
🎬 Sustainability Behind the Lens @ Garden Studios, London
First up, we were at the inspiring Garden Studios in London for Sustainability Behind the Lens. This event brought together suppliers, crew, studios, and production professionals to explore sustainable filmmaking in action.
From greener fuels to smarter workflows, we were proud to host our Real SFX and KIT4CREW stand, sharing the steps we’re taking to reduce environmental impact without compromising on creativity or safety. That includes:
Choosing low-emission fuel alternatives wherever possible
Expanding our use of e-generators on set
Reducing waste in our workshops and on set through recycling and reuse
Improving transport efficiencies with travel-mapping and better logistics planning
Encouraging greener choices across departments
Using sustainable alternatives like biodegradable snow.
🌿 Sustainability in Production – Wales @ Great Point Studios
Next up, we headed to Great Point Studios for Sustainability in Production – Wales, where the Welsh screen sector came together to explore what green production looks like locally.
Once again, we had our Real SFX and KIT4CREW stand out in full force, chatting about our Green Real SFX agenda, sharing practical ideas, and highlighting the real-life changes we’ve already implemented. From creative rig reuse to kit redistribution through KIT4CREW, there was a real buzz around making positive change across departments, and plenty of inspiration to take forward.
Why it matters
These events are a reminder that sustainable special effects are not only possible, they’re happening now and we are leading the way with them. As proud supporters of the BAFTA albert initiative, we’re committed to pushing boundaries on screen while pulling back on our environmental footprint.
Every conversation, partnership, and small switch makes a difference, and we’re excited to be part of the movement helping make production greener from the inside out.
